What is an Excel to PDF converter?
An Excel to PDF converter turns a spreadsheet, such as an XLS or XLSX file, into a PDF. The PDF shows the values, the tables, the formatting and the charts of your sheets on fixed pages, so anyone can read and print them without Excel. It is the usual way to send a price list, a report, a budget or an invoice that must not be changed by accident.
With our converter you upload your spreadsheet, click one button and download the PDF. There is nothing to install and no account to create. It is free and adds no watermark.
Features of this free Excel to PDF converter
- XLS, XLSX, ODS and CSV: Convert Microsoft Excel files, OpenDocument spreadsheets and CSV files.
- Values and formatting kept: Numbers, fonts, colors, borders and merged cells appear in the PDF.
- Calculated results: Formulas are shown as their results, so the PDF shows the numbers people expect to see.
- Your page setup is respected: Print areas, page orientation and page breaks that you set in Excel are used.
- No watermark and no signup: The PDF is clean, and you do not need an account.
- Files are deleted after conversion: Your spreadsheet is converted and then removed from the conversion server.
Why convert Excel to PDF?
- Sharing finished numbers: Send a price list, a report or a statement that people can read but not change by accident.
- Printing: A PDF prints with the same page breaks and margins on every printer.
- No Excel needed: Anyone can open a PDF on a phone or a computer, even without Excel.
- Hiding your formulas: A PDF shows results only, so your formulas and other sheets stay private.
- Invoices and quotations: Documents sent to customers are usually sent as PDF files.
- Archiving: A PDF is a stable way to keep the final version of a report.
How does the conversion work, and what happens to my file?
Reading a spreadsheet and drawing it on pages needs a full document engine, which cannot run inside a web browser. For this reason, unlike our image tools, this tool sends your file to our conversion server. The server uses the open-source LibreOffice engine to create the PDF, sends the PDF back to you and deletes your file. We do not keep a copy of your spreadsheet.
The file travels over a secure connection. If a spreadsheet contains extremely confidential data, convert it with the software on your own computer instead.
How to prepare your Excel file for a good PDF
- Set the print area: In Excel, select the cells that should appear in the PDF and set them as the print area, so that empty cells and side notes are left out.
- Choose landscape for wide tables: A table with many columns fits better on a landscape page.
- Fit columns to one page width: Use the scaling option in the page setup so that all columns appear on the same page instead of being cut across pages.
- Check the column widths: If a column is too narrow, numbers can show as hash signs. Widen the column before you convert.
- Repeat the header row: For long tables, set the title rows to repeat on every page.
- Hide what you do not want to share: Hide or delete sheets and columns that should not be in the PDF.
What may look different?
The PDF is made by a different engine than Microsoft Excel, so some details can differ. Fonts that are not installed on the conversion server are replaced, and complex charts, special effects and some conditional formatting may not look exactly as they do in Excel. Very wide sheets can run over several pages if the page setup is not adjusted. Check the PDF before you send it.
Excel vs PDF: when to use which
Use Excel to work with data, because it can calculate, sort and filter. Use PDF when the numbers are final and you want to share, print or archive them. If the other person needs to work with the data, send the spreadsheet itself, or send both files.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this Excel to PDF converter free?
Yes. It is free, adds no watermark and needs no signup.
Which spreadsheet formats are supported?
XLS, XLSX, ODS and CSV files, up to 25 MB.
Is my spreadsheet uploaded to a server?
Yes. The file is sent over a secure connection to our conversion server, converted, and then deleted. We do not keep a copy.
Why is my table cut across several pages?
The sheet is wider than one page. In Excel, set the page to landscape and use the scaling option to fit all columns on one page, then convert again.
Are formulas shown in the PDF?
No. The PDF shows the calculated results, not the formulas.
Can I convert only one sheet?
Set the print area, or remove the sheets that you do not need, in Excel before you convert.
Why do I see hash signs instead of numbers?
The column is too narrow for the number. Widen the column in Excel and convert the file again.
Can I convert a password-protected spreadsheet?
No. Remove the password in Excel first, then convert the file.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. You can upload a spreadsheet from your phone and download the PDF.
