Your PDF is opened and edited in your browser. It is never uploaded to a server. Edited text uses standard fonts, and scanned PDFs have no text to click, but you can still add text and images on top of them.
What is an online PDF editor?
An online PDF editor lets you change a PDF file in your web browser, without installing a program such as Adobe Acrobat. You open the file, click on the page and make your changes, then download a new PDF. It is the quickest way to fix a typing mistake in a contract, fill in an empty line of a form, add your signature or hide a detail before you send a document.
Our editor works on the page itself. You see the real PDF page and edit it directly, and everything happens on your device, so the file is never uploaded to a server.
What you can do with this PDF editor
- Edit existing text: Choose Edit text and click any line of text in the PDF. It becomes an editable box, and the original text is covered, so you can type the new words.
- Add new text: Click anywhere on the page and type. Choose the font, size, color, bold and italic.
- Add images: Place a logo, a stamp or a photo, then move it and resize it.
- Whiteout: Cover a mistake or a private detail with a box that matches the page background.
- Highlight: Mark important lines with a yellow highlighter that keeps the text underneath readable.
- Boxes and drawing: Draw a box around something, or draw freehand to sign a document with your mouse, finger or stylus.
- Remove pages: Take out pages you do not need before you download the file.
- Undo and redo: Go back and forward as many times as you want before you save.

- Step 4: Check the page: Zoom your eyes around the document and use undo if something is not right.
- Step 5: Download: Press the download button to save your edited PDF.
How editing existing text works
A PDF is not like a Word document. It stores each piece of text at a fixed position with its font, and it does not keep the text as flowing paragraphs. That is why most PDF editors cannot simply retype a sentence and reflow the page.
This editor handles it the practical way. When you click a line of text, it covers the original line with a patch that matches the color around it, and places a text box with the same words at the same spot. You change the words in the box, and the result looks like a normal edit.
The new text is saved with a standard font, either Helvetica, Times or Courier, so it may look slightly different from the original font. For small corrections such as a number, a name or a date, the change is usually hard to notice.
What this editor cannot do yet
- Scanned PDFs: A scan is only a picture of a page, so there is no text to click. You can still add text, images and shapes on top of it.
- Non-Latin text: Letters such as Urdu, Arabic, Chinese and Cyrillic cannot be saved in the new text yet. They would turn into question marks.
- Original fonts: Edited text uses Helvetica, Times or Courier, not the font of the original document.
- Password-protected files: Remove the password first, then open the file.
- Rotated pages and form fields: Rotated pages stay unchanged, and fillable form fields are not editable here.
How to sign a PDF with the draw tool
Choose Draw, pick a dark color and a thickness of 2 or 3, then sign with your mouse, finger or a stylus. Use Select afterwards to move your signature into place and resize it. If you prefer a neater look, sign on white paper, take a photo, and add it with the Image tool.
Remember that a drawn signature is only a picture of your handwriting. Some contracts need a legally recognized electronic signature, so check the rules of the person or office you are sending the file to.
Tips for clean edits
- Match the size: Click the original text first. The editor copies its size, so your new text lines up with the rest.
- Keep the text short: A new word that is much longer than the old one can run into the next word, so widen the box if needed.
- Check the whiteout color: On colored backgrounds, look closely at the patch and change its color if it shows.
- Zoom in the preview: Use your browser zoom to check small details before you download.
- Keep the original file: Your original is never changed, because you download a new copy.
Is it safe to edit a PDF here?
Yes. The PDF is opened and edited by your browser, and the edited file is created on your device. Nothing is sent to our servers, and nothing is stored, so private contracts, invoices and ID documents stay with you. That is a real advantage over online editors that need to upload your file first.
